The atmospheric pop band The Chameleons formed in Manchester, England in 1981 from the ashes of a number of local groups.
Currently many indie bands such as Interpol, as well as more mainstream acts like Coldplay, rely heavily on the use of choral and delay guitar effects in their musical arrangements. And while musically the British rock scene in the 21st century is as diverse as it has ever been, it's easy to trace much of the early roots of today's diverse range of sounds to a handful of truly original and prolific bands from 25 years ago...including The Chameleons.
